Advanced Interventions for
Adolescents
Don't let the difficulties and frustrations of the
teenage years discourage you from working with this population! More than ever,
adolescents are wanting to connect and find meaning in their life. In this
interactive workshop participants will learn THE primary method for engaging
teenagers in treatment! Several advanced and empirically-influenced
interventions will be demonstrated and rehearsed to give the participants a
level of mastery. Topics include: overcoming rejection and abandonment,
developing healthy relationships, managing grief and trauma, and minimizing
parental conflict.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Participants will be able to:
1. Identify the primary therapeutic factor in counseling teenagers.
2. List five common mistakes therapists make.
3. Explain the long term effects of parental rejection and abandonment.
4. Help adolescents take responsibility for their behavior and set lofty goals.
5. Identify ten characteristics of a health relationship.
6. List the primary shift in parenting a teenager.

These
workshops are being sponsored by Healing KIDZ. Healing KIDZ is approved by The
American Psychological Association (APA) to offer continuing education for
psychologists. Healing KIDZ is also approved by The National Board for Certified
Counselors (NBCC) and The Association for Play Therapy (APT) to provide
continuing education. Our Provider numbers are 5860 and 99-057 respectively.
This workshop has been approved by the National Association for Social
Workers-Louisiana Chapter (NASW-La) for 6.5 continuing education credits.
Healing KIDZ maintain responsibility for the program and adheres to APA and NBCC
Continuing Education Guidelines. 6.5 continuing education credits per workshop
will be awarded to participants who attend each entire day-long workshop.
