Adventure-Based Group Therapy for
Adolescents
Despite the negative view that most of
society has toward the teenage population, these children often have tremendous
obstacles to overcome in their life and are in desperate need of support and
encouragement. This workshop is an extension of the Creative Interventions
for Adolescents workshop but focuses on the healing power of adventure-based
group therapy. In this workshop the participant will gain a basic
knowledge of group process with adolescents as well as the four temperament
types that contribute to a successful group experience. Appropriate group size
and facilitator goals will also be reviewed. The afternoon section will involve
the demonstration of many group activities to help the adolescent navigate
through this often difficult stage of life.
Participants will be able to identify:
- Four Temperament Types for Group Members
- Different Types of Group Settings
- Rules and Goals for Group Leaders
- How to Deal with a Disruptive Adolescent
- Activities for Group Cohesion
- Activities to Promote Self Disclosure
- Activities for Healing, Personal Forgiveness and
Recovery
