Creative Interventions for Anger Management
Helping children manage their anger can be extremely beneficial to their
emotional, behavioral and social development. This workshop will include a
review of the different types of aggression as well as organic and psychological
conditions that can create aggression in children. Various developmental
symptoms of aggression will then be explored to prepare for the afternoon
section that will cover appropriate interventions for each stage. The afternoon
section of this workshop will cover MANY Play Therapy Techniques that you will
be able to put into practice immediately. Creative Art activities that help
children express feelings, get safety needs met, and develop coping skills will
be covered. We will also review the importance of helping the child distinguish
between anger and possible "deeper" feelings. Experiential activities to help
the child express feelings in a safe and effective manner will be used to help
the participant gain insight into the child's world. We all also cover
modifications of activities to fit within a group format.
