Experiential Family Therapy with Adolescents
Parents often are desperate to reconnect with
their teenager and establish a healthy relationship. This workshop helps
participants learn how to engage teenagers and their families in the therapeutic
process by using adventure based activities. Six different experiential
activities will be presented with therapeutic goals for each activity. The
activities are designed to help families identify communication patterns, gain
insight into family dynamics, accept responsibility for their behavior, develop
alternative coping skills, and ask for what they need. Individuals will be
encouraged to participate in the activities to develop a better understanding of
the process.
Participants will be able to identify:
- Benefits of Adventure-Based Family Therapy
- Six Structured Adventure-Based Activities.
- Rules and Goals for Group Leaders
- How to Deal with a Disruptive Adolescent
- Activities for Group Cohesion
- Activities to Promote Self Disclosure
- Activities for Healing, Personal Forgiveness and
Recovery
